2024 Ballot Question

At the 2023 Annual Meeting, voters suggested that the Township consider moving the election of Officers to November. After consideration of consequences and various alternatives, the Board of Supervisors approved a plan to do so at their October 2023 meeting.

Resolution to Adopt November Meetings

Voters will be asked whether to adopt the change at the March 12 Township election. Approval requires 50%+1 of voters to vote in favor of the ballot question.

Approval will eliminate the stand-alone Township election every year. These elections have had less than 5% voter turnout in recent years and annual cost the Township hundreds of dollars to administer.

This will require a change in term lengths to 4 years (currently 3 years for Supervisors and 2 years for Clerk/Treasurer) to accommodate the biannual elections. Updated terms are described in the Resolution and shown on this table. These elections will coincide with the Presidential and midterm/Governor elections that the Township already administers and have much higher participation.

An Annual Meeting to set the property tax levy and other business would still be held each March, but could be held at an earlier time since it may legally happen during the 5:00pm-8:00pm required voting period.
