TOWNSHIP ELECTION: The 2024 election of Township officers will take place from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 12th at the Page Town Hall. A sample ballot is below:

Town Question 1 – Whether to Move the Town Election to November
Shall the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November be designated as the date of the Page Township general election, starting in 2024?

BALLOT QUESTION: The Supervisors have proposed a plan to move Township officer elections to November to coincide with regular voting in Presidential and midterm (Governor) elections. This would eliminate the stand-alone March Township election and allow more participation and lower costs. The change will be approved if a majority of participants vote in the affirmative during the election. Learn more about the ballot question.

ABSENTEE VOTING: The Clerk will be available for absentee voting on Saturday, March 9th from 10:00am until 12:00pm (noon).

ANNUAL MEETING: The Page Township Annual Meeting will begin after 8:00pm following completion of the election. Members of the public are welcome but only eligible voters residing in Page Township may vote on the proceedings. During the meeting, the current Board will provide an update on the State of the Township. There will be an opportunity for questions and comments regarding Township services and the future of Page. All meeting materials will be posted on the linked website prior to the start of the meeting.

The main item of business is setting the 2025 property tax levy (though that may be delayed until later in the year if electors choose). The Supervisors have recommended a $6,000 increase in the levy for 2025 to a total of $148,000.

BOARD OF CANVASS: After adjournment of the Annual Meeting meeting, the Supervisors will meet as the Board of Canvass to certify the 2024 election results. The public is welcome to observe.

April 2023

APRIL MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, April 17 at 6:00pm. It will also be the Board’s annual reorganization to select new officers and set policies for the next year. The meeting agenda is posted in the Google Drive.

PROPERTY VALUE & CLASSIFICATION: The Page Township Board of Supervisors will meet with the Mille Lacs County Assessor to conduct the Board of Appeal and Equalization on Tuesday, April 25 at 9:00am. This is an opportunity for landowners to appeal the assessed value or classification of their property. Appointments must be made with the Mille Lacs County Assessor at (320) 983-8311.

ROAD REVIEW: Supervisors will be completing the 2023 review of all Township roads and rights-of-way after the Board of Appeal on April 25. Please notify the Clerk if you have particular concerns that should be looked into. The road review determines priorities for maintenance and improvements for the remainder of the year.

FIBER INTERNET: East Central Energy (ECE) has committed to bringing high-speed, fiber optic internet to all residences within their service area. At this time, they expect to add service in Page Township sometime between 2024-2027. The Town Board encourages you to submit your interest in service through their online form to demonstrate demand and move our area sooner in the installation window. MARCH MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, March 20 at 6:00pm. The meeting agenda is posted in the Google Drive.

GRAVEL & GRADING: During the March meeting, Supervisors will be reviewing quotes for gravel and grading servings. The gravel request is for up to 6,000 yards of modified class 5 delivered, spread, and packed upon designated town roads. The grading request covers biweekly grading of all road miles, which excludes 170th Ave this year (Lakin Township is responsible).

ELECTION RESULTS: The annual election of Township officers was held on March 14th from 5 – 8pm. Winning seats officers were: Laura Murphy (Treasurer) with 9 votes and Jason Theisen (Supervisor A) with 6 write-in votes. During the annual meeting that night, residents proposed that the Board consider adopting November elections on the regular state ballot. Any change would have to be approved at a future township election.

2024 PROPERTY TAXES: During the Annual Meeting, residents approved the Supervisors’ recommended 2024 property tax levy of $142,000, which is unchanged from 2023. Individual fund areas were re-balanced largely due to higher fire coverage costs from the City of Milaca. Materials provided at the meeting are available for review.
