SEPTEMBER MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, September 21 at 6:00pm. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive.

CARES ACT: Due to Coronavirus relief (CARES Act) funding from the federal government (as distributed by the State of Minnesota), Page Township has been allocated $18,725 to offset costs associated with the pandemic. Eligible expenses include public health response, business relief, telecommunications, social services, and facilities upgrades. The Board will be discussing how best to utilize these funds at the upcoming meeting.

HALL RENTAL: Hall rental for public use has resumed, although capacity is limited to 30 individuals and additional cleaning protocols are required. AUGUST MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, August 17th at 6:00pm. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive.

GRAVEL: Page Township is top-dressing approximately 7.5 miles of roadway with 6,000 yards of new class 5 gravel. Approximately 80% has been completed. Please exercise caution when driving near gravel trucks or the road grader as the new gravel is spread and packed.

JULY MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, July 20th at 6:00pm. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive.

ROAD WORK: Biweekly road grading continues throughout the summer. All Township rights-of-way were mowed in recent weeks; a second mowing will be evaluated later in the year. Approximately 6,000 yards of gravel will be delivered and packed onto roughly 7 miles of Township roads before Labor Day. Other efforts for culvert replacement, signage, brush control, and other areas will also continue.

JUNE MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, June 15th at 6:00pm. This is the first meeting at the new time set at the May reorganization meeting. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive.

ROAD WORK: Work to make improvements to the right-of-way ditches along 170th Ave to improve the flow of water off of the roadways is largely complete. One culvert under the road will also be replaced. Excess material that was removed was added along 210th Street to eliminate a steep drop-off. Plans for the remainder of the work season will be finalized during the upcoming meeting.

MAY MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, May 18th at 7:00pm. With the expiration of the stay-at-home order, the Page Township Board will once again be meeting in-person with modifications to the room layout to ensure a minimum of 6 feet between each individual. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive.

REORGANIZATION: The Supervisors will conduct the annual Board Reorganization to elect a Chair and Vice Chair, define roles and emergency authorizations, set fees, and other considerations. Typically the reorganization occurs in April of each year, but it was delayed (per Resolution #2004-02) due to the inability to meet in-person during the stay-at-home order.

ROAD WORK: Supervisors will determine the 2020 priorities for maintenance, improvement, and repair along the approximately 27 miles of roads and rights-of-way under Page Township’s jurisdiction. This includes: areas to receive new gravel, roadside ditch improvements, culvert replacements, vegetation management, signage, and other issues. GRAVEL: Page Township will accept quotes for delivery of 6,000 cubic yard of class 5 gravel for delivery and placement upon roads prior to September 4, 2020. Due to the declared pandemic, all quotes must be submitted in writing and delivered to the Hall (US Mail or dropbox) or emailed to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting. The full request for quotes is available on the website.

PROPERTY VALUES. Landowners may contest the market value or property tax classification for taxes payable in 2021 at the Board of Appeal and Equalization to be held on April 28th at 10:00am. An appointment with the Mille Lacs County Assessor is required (320) 983-8311. Due to the public health emergency, the meeting will be conducted primarily via phone and video. Only one member of the public will be admitted to the Town Hall at a time.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS

THIS MAY AFFECT YOUR 2021 PROPERTY TAXES

      Notice is hereby given that the Board of Appeal and Equalization of Page Township shall meet on Tuesday, April 28th, 10:00 AM at the Page Town Hall (21804 – 140th Ave, Milaca). Due to the public health emergency, only one member of the public will be admitted at a time. Call-in options will be available and will be posted on the front door and on www.PageTownship.org. Contact the Clerk at (320) 247-5030 or clerk@PageTownship.org for questions regarding remote access.

      The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the Town has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and also to determine whether corrections need to be made.

      If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact the Mille Lacs County Assessor’s office (320-983-8311) to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after conferring with the Assessor, you may appear before the Page Township Board of Appeal & Equalization. An appointment through the Assessor is necessary (320-983-8311). The Board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and shall correct it as needed. Generally, an appearance before your local Board is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization.

MARCH MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, March 16th at 7:00pm at the Town Hall. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive. The regular meeting will be followed by the Board of Audit to review 2019 finances.

TOWNSHIP ELECTION: On March 10th, nine Page Township residents voted in the election of officers. The winners were: Jason Theisen (Supervisor A, 3-year term), Tom Burk (Supervisor C, 1-year term), and Kyle Weimann (Clerk, 2-year term).

2021 LEVY. At the March 10th Annual Meeting, gathered electors voted to set the 2021 property tax levy at the level recommended by the Supervisors, $144,000, divided between the five operating funds ($19,000 general, $102,750 road & bridge, $6,750 town hall, $750 park, and $14,750 fire). This will be the first increase since 2016. The overall levy is $24,000 less than it was in 2012.

Levy History

LEVY RECOMMENDATION: At the February meeting, Supervisors will consider whether to recommend a 2021 property tax levy amount at the Annual Township meeting to be held on March 10. The Township maintains five separate operating funds to ensure fiscal responsibility for each of the components, with over 70% dedicated for road maintenance. The overall levy has not changed since 2015 and is lower than it was in 2012.

January Meeting, Candidate Filing, Buckthorn Workshop

JANUARY MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, January 13th at 7:00pm at the Town Hall. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive.

CANDIDATE FILING: Any eligible voter residing in Page Township may file as a candidate for Town Officer through January 14th. Positions to be elected at the March 10, 2020 Township Election are: Supervisor A (3 year term), Supervisor C (1 year term), and Clerk (2 year term). There is a $2 filing fee. Forms are available in one of the boxes at the Town Hall or from the Clerk. Additionally, the Hall will be open from 1:00 – 5:00pm January 14 for the purpose of filing.

BUCKTHORN WORKSHOP: An information session on Buckthorn control and prevention, including state and federal financial assistance programs, will be hosted at the Page Town Hall on Tuesday, January 21 at 6:00pm.
